SEA KAYAK DAY TRIPS:
The following day trips can be booked for the same weekend in Bayfield, Wisconsin.
LAKE SUPERIOR SEA CAVES EXPLORATION
Kayak the Apostle Islands Sea Caves! We will leave from the tip of the Bayfield Peninsula to launch our boats on Lake Superior. After a short paddle, we'll explore large sandstone cliffs & caves that extend for a few miles along the shoreline. We'll enjoy lunch along the shore, & view the caves again on our return.
$110 per person

CANYONS & CLIFFS WATERFALL TOUR
Kayak along Lake Superior’s Canyons and Cliffs with us! This will be a memorable & relaxing day trip! We’ll paddle between Saxon Harbor & Little Girl’s Point. In less than a mile from the harbor, we come to the mouth of the Montreal R. & kayak a short distance through the last portion of the river canyon up to a 40-foot final cascade of the 90 foot Superior Falls. We'll have lunch on a gravel bar just below the falls, swim, take pictures & enjoy the beauty. Depending on the interests & energy of the group, we can explore the rugged shoreline alongside the 60 foot rock cliff & paddle alongside or under numerous smaller waterfalls depending on recent rainfall. For many, the short paddle to the Falls & back to the Harbor will be just far enough. This trip, therefore, offers great flexibility.

Nippersink Lunch Paddle
Keystone Landing to Pioneer Road.
6.50 miles
Live in Chicago?
Don’t have a car?
Don’t worry, Metra transportation is available.
We will pick you up at the Fox Lake Metra Station at 10:30 am - Milwaukee District/North Line.
Nippersink is a scenic prairie stream that meanders through protected prairie and woodland areas as well as private lands. Slow to moderate current and even some small sections of easy rapids/riffles makes this a great paddle for paddlers of all levels provided you catch the right water levels.
Our day begins by either picking you up at the Metra station in Fox Lake if you are coming from Chicago or meeting you at Keystone Landing at 10:30. The Keystone Landing is located on Keystone Road just off of Barnard Mill Road north of Wonder Lake. There is a small parking area here and restrooms. You can also access a group of hiking trails here that are part of Glacial Park. Nice developed put-in with no mud.
The Nippersink Creek Watershed is . . . .
► Located in northeastern Illinois and southern Wisconsin
► The largest tributary to the Fox River, draining 137 square miles in Illinois and about 50 square miles in Wisconsin.
► Among the finest of Illinois streams. Surveys for the presence of pollution-sensitive fish found that the Mainstream rates as a ‘B’ quality stream and the North Branch received a ‘Class A’ ranking.
► Home to at least 21 animals and 30 plants listed as Illinois endangered or threatened species.
► Contains 46 McHenry County Natural Area Inventory Sites quality upland, wetland and reaches of stream which are remnants of the region’s original natural diversity.
► Offers one of the best river trails for canoeing and kayaking in NE Illinois.
Once we gather at Pioneer Road we will enjoy a fantastic buffet lunch prior to getting on the water. Old Town 12 foot sit-inside kayaks, paddles and life vests will be waiting for you at Keystone Landing.
Halfway through our tour we will stop for a buffet lunch at Pioneer Road Landing. Here you will be able to stretch your legs, use the restrooms and relax as you enjoy a fantastic lunch consisting of salads, sandwiches, pastries (for that extra energy) and an assortment of beverages to get you through the last leg of the trip. We will spend approximately one hour eating, lying in the shade of the trees and resting before we get back into the water and head for Spring Grove, out take-out point.
Then entire trip covers 11 miles of varied terrain and it is an excellent way to escape the stress of our daily lives. Transportation back to the Metra Station in Fox Lake is included for everyone that came in on the train.
Plan on bringing the following gear.
- Sunscreen
- Hat
- Water Shoes
- Rain Jacket
- Sunglasses
